Who would have imagined that a 94 year old woman would know fashion better than you and then wear it better too. This interior designer (she has worked with the wives of 9 Presidents on the White House) is never seen without her gigantic round glasses, long dramatic necklaces and her bright pink/red lipstick.
“If you can’t be pretty, you have to learn to make yourself attractive. I found that all the pretty girls I went to high school with came to middle age as frumps, because they just got by with their pretty faces, so they never developed anything. They never learned how to be interesting. But if you are bereft of certain things, you have to make up for them in certain ways. Don’t you think?”
Her look is never dull and boring, vibrant with colours. Although, I won’t dare dress like her (also because I hate extremely colourful clothes), we sure can learn how to be bold and confident in our over the top outfits. She thinks black is boring and I definitely do not agree with her. However, I can’t deny that the way she wears her colours. It would be hard to not notice her. And the most surprising part is, I honestly doubt anyone would laugh at her choice of clothes; instead, applaud her.
“You can’t try to be somebody you’re not; that’s not style,” she told the Telegraph. “You have to learn who you are first and that’s painful.” She doesn’t care about trends. She would rather dress in accordance to who she is than follow some trends that would come and go. This is why, I admire her for her bold approach to style as it is very personalised.
