We can all agree that the self-quarantine has been quite a bummer. I was so ready for the weather to get warmer so I can dive into the newer trends and make some positively conscious additions to my wardrobe! The whole situation has sensitised my outlook on the fashion industry all the more. I have chosen my to utilise my time wisely and spend on brands and trends that I will be wearing for years to come.
From quality products to sustainable choices, each of these have been important in my purchase decision. Have a look at some of the key trends this season, take a step away from fast fashion and invest towards a positively conscious wardrobe. I strongly recommend maintaining your sanity by adding these curated pieces to your cart!
Bra It On
One of the most common trends you might have seen. Whether you are more reserved or ready to be bold, there is always an options to adopt this trend. You can wear your bralette over a crisp white shirt or t-shirt or choose to wear it alone.
Suit Up Shorts
The bermuda shorts have got an upgrade. Switch up your tailored trousers and pencil skirts for these tailored ‘long shorts!’ Pair with a tailored blazer and a cute crop top for an effortlessly chic look. Bottega Veneta, Chloe and and Dion Lee aced this business casual trend on the runway.
One print I never thought I would be inclined towards? Polka dots! In all shapes and size, this retro print is back in action. Spotted on the Sacai and Maison Margiela runway, you’d find the uber cool of the fashion industry donning spots!
Surprisingly, leather made it to the list. Glossy leather in pastel tones is the most unexpected trend this season. Usually reserved for the cold winter months, leather can now be defined as a transitional piece in your wardrobe.
Collar So Big
I like to label this the disco collar. Wide collars are the new statement makers this season. From the likes of Lanvin and JW Anderson to high street staples River Island and Zara, all are in on this trend so you definitely can not miss out.
From knitted ones to denim cut offs, tiny shorts make a comeback this season. I last heard the terms ‘hot’ and ‘pants’ together last in 2010 when I was barely 13 years old. Well, this isn’t a trend for all but if Chanel did it, you have to too!
Not sure if you’ve heard but bigger the sleeves the bigger the dreams! Exaggerated sleeves have been in since the previous season. Now being carried forward from winter knits to summer linens, it is guaranteed that this trend is here to stay.
Tropic Like Its Hot
This one is definitely not for me but 60s floral prints are back this fashion season. The more vintage it looks, the safer the option. By rule of thumb, I suggest going for an all over print in safe colours to make a big impact and pair with a cropped sweatshirt or a crochet bralette.
Literally choose any highlighter shade and it is a trend to follow. I personally prefer the neon pinks and yellows. easy to pair with both black and white neutrals and great to go from day to night. To be safe, I’d recommend picking t-shirts and midi dresses in these styles in order to ensure longevity in wear.
