Hair fall? Colour damaged hair? Well, if your troubled hair is making you anxious, this one is for you. Having coloured my hair in the summer of 2017 stripped my hair of moisture. To deal with the dry and frizzy hair, I opted for a cysteine treatment in summer 2019. Having never experienced major hair fall before, I was obviously worried.
The answer to all my problems? A simple hair care routine. I completely switched my products at the start of this year and it has been working miraculously. I have gone from lifeless limp hair to hair with texture and some volume!
Shampoo and Conditioner
I think everyone should invest in a good shampoo and conditioner. They form the base for maintaining good hair. Choosing a pair that really provides the hair with the nutrition it needs is significant. I have been a fan of Aveda since my student days in London and finally, it is available in India. I knew I needed a volumising shampoo but realised the clay in it can make my hair dry. Hence, I chose a smoothening conditioner to counter that. My go to products? The Aveda Pure Abundance Shampoo and the Aveda Cherry Almond Conditioner. I’m clearly a sucker for anything that is mostly natural.
This is the first and only hair spray I currently own. I am all for a casual beach waves look. From day to night, it’s such an easy hair style to make your whole look more chic. Instead of the traditional sea salt, the Ouai Wave Spray is formulated with rice protein which helps avoiding the stiffness. It also ensures I get the perfect bounce when I scrunch my hair after spraying to achieve flexible ways.
The age old champi is always the brown girl’s secret to long and thick hair. My childhood weekends were incomplete without applying Parachute coconut oil. But the older you grow, the wiser you become. The secret today is my mum’s homemade oil mixture. Curry leaves, almond oil, vitamin E oil and olive oil are just a few ingredients. Applying a good hair oil boasting antioxidants aid in making the hair stronger and healthier. The most exciting bit about the champi is the lovely head massage! A gentle massage increases blood circulation in the scalp and relieves stress.
